I lay in bed asleep
It’s all I can do
Or else my skin will peel away
My face and features change
My heart is peeling smaller and smaller
Falling away, to nothingness
Everything changes
Peel away from the old
Myself is gone a stranger lays
I am lost in my old skin
It has left and is no more
Everyone sees the new and never the old
Never what once was
Only what is.

Watching the scabs peel away
